Notre Dame CB Cam Hart Hopes To Continue His Rise At 2024 NFL Scouting Combine

It was a fascinating career trajectory for Cam Hart, who began his career as a three-star wide receiver recruit. Flash forward to the end of his fifth year and you have a three-year starting cornerback who put together his best year in 2023. In total, Hart recorded 90 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, 17 pass breakups and three forced fumbles during his time with the Irish.

After that standout career, Hart did enough to receive an invitation to the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl. Hart took full advantage of that week down in Mobile, leaving the event as one of the big winners of the practice week. That was a tremendous first step in the process for the talented cover man.

Now the next step in Hart’s draft process is the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, which kicks off with on-field drills on Thursday in Indianapolis, Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium. Hart will be a part of a deep and talented cornerback group that is hoping to impress NFL scouts, decision makers and coaches in attendance. Here is what he has on the line heading into the week.

CURRENT PROJECTION

Heading into the Combine, Hart is considering a late day two draft pick, having some third round grades around the league. For teams that major in off man coverage, he may be a bit lower on their prospective boards. In the end, the medicals will be the tipping point to whether Hart will be valued as heavily. If there is a clean bill of health, a top 100 selection is very much in the cards.

WHAT’S ON THE LINE AT THE COMBINE?

The biggest question about Hart is going to be the medicals. He had recurring issues with shoulder injuries while at Notre Dame, which is troubling for a defensive player. Seeing how those medicals check out will be big for Hart, whose draft slot has high variance because of it.

From there, it’s about impressing on the field. Hart is going to impress at the weigh-ins, starting at nearly 6-3 with a great frame with plenty of length to work with. There is an expectation that he is going to test very well at his size. Hopefully he can also look smooth in the position drills, especially being a high legged cornerback.

There is a possibility that he puts a lot of people on notice with his testing numbers. Here are some potential times and jumps he could post in Indy.

NEXT STEP

Assuming everything went well down in Indianapolis, it is pretty smooth sailing from here. The Notre Dame Pro Day is scheduled for March 21st. Depending how Hart does with testing, that may be a day that is just focusing on position drills and being present for the scouts in attendance. Other than that, the Top 30 visits will be huge. When Hart travels to the particular organizations, he will have a chance to sell himself further and the teams will have their own doctors look further it’s his past medical history.
